For this project, I built a tool to visually compare the distances (straight and driving) of hospitals to the borders of neighbouring counties. There had been a change in health policy that affected whether some hospitals would be classified as primarily serving a rural population. Some unforeseen exceptions to the policy came up, and to examine these scenarios, our client requested a report on the counties closest to a set of hospitals. This tool was built to let them easily explore the results.
This visualization tool wasn't necessary to complete the task, but was a nice way to let the client understand the methodology, and be able to explore any unexpected results. It was useful in highlighting the effect of selecting between straight or driving distances.
